So right now the main project I’m working on in my spare time is Hellas:
It’s a 2D action/platform game about Greek mythology that takes place on the surface of a black-figure vase. It’s a fairly ambitious project in terms of (potential) scope, but I’m building it up slowly, one part at a time, and picking my battles carefully. So far I’ve got platform movement, the beginnings of combat mechanics and an art-style…
I’m keeping a devlog on the TIGS forums and you can also follow the development on YouTube or Indie DB. I’ll post more thoughts and updates as the game takes shape…
That looks really cool. Great to see that in between 3D animation there still is some place in your heart to do some good old 2D platforming games! I really wonder where you find the spare time though, I’m glad when I have just a couple of hours a week to work on my hobby projects. Maybe you’re just a very productive man Christiaan, who will tell… 🙂
I find the grabbing feature intriguing. That could really open new perspectives. Or is it just there for testing purposes?
If it’s to stay, I imagine that you would have to limit its use somewhat. Have you already come up with a solution for that? Perhaps giving up a sacrifice and considering it a miracle? 😉
Thanks! I’m actually job-hunting at the moment so I have more spare time than usual. The grabbing feature is definitely staying. You’re exactly right in fact: a sacrifice (food or wine) is made to the gods in exchange. Right now this is the only special power in the game but I’m planning on adding more.
